Tips!
Hi!
Love
the site - just bought a murakami beige pochette
on eBay, and your site really helped me purchase
with confidence!!
Another
tip I would add is that if you are purchasing
online at auction, note the shipping time - if
the seller says that you will have to wait 7-10
days or more, the item you are bidding on is
probably fake. In other words, they will probably
be ordering a replica from China, which is why
it takes so long. If this person claims the bag
is authentic and they have it on hand, why not
ship immediately, right?
Anyway,
that's all I have! Let's keep fighting the good
Louis fight!

Dear
Angie..are you a genius or what! I tried the
fungal spray (it was clear) and the odor is gone,
along with the fungus I hope. It did not stain,
don't know where it soaked into, though. The
one bag had already begun to peel in the small
zippered pocket and that is where, I believe,
most of the odar was coming from. Sprayed that
inside twice rather heavy. It is not peeling
anymore, even seems stable in there. certainly
not sticky like it was before. Sooo glad it worked
but it was a bit tough to just begin to spray
away inside those pricey bags. Again, thanks
for the suggestion!
Best
regards, Betsy

Hello, I purchased your booklet a few months ago
and it has really been helpful!
[Angie] Great!
I took two bags to L.V. Beverly Hills for authentication.
If you did not mention that in your book, I never
would have thought about it. [Angie] Excellent!
Also have purchased a few bags from your recommended
sellers, again thanks for that. I really enjoy
watching bags on eBay and trying to guess what
is real and what is not, again thanks for that
hint.
[Angie] I do that, too! Do you also find yourself
sizing up the LV's you see when you're outdoors?
I have two questions that maybe you can answer.
Two of the vintage bags I purchased have a musty
odor..they are both leather lined and from 1985-1990s.
Do you know what causes that and can anything be
done about it to remove the odor? [[Angie] The
problem is a tough one because it means moisture
and mold has developed between the canvas and the
leather. The next step is usually peeling. So,
in effect, it is not the odor that is so much the
problem as the mold. I'm going out on a limb here,
but try testing some foot odor spray that kills
fungus. I see it as a very similar problem. Perhaps
you need to test it on a cloth and rub it inside
to make sure you don't get discoloration. I don't
think it could hurt.
And I just purchased a vintage bag with the label:
LV Exclusvite, Edition 12 Then the number '263'.
In your book you mention these and commemoratives
but do you what this specific label means? [Angie] I
am sorry, I don't know what event that edition
represents. Try 1-866-VUITTON. Let me
know if you find out anything.
Again thanks for the great info on L.V.!
[Angie] My pleasure.
Best
regards,
Betsy

Subject: about fakes...here's
a tip
Dear Poupette:
I have recently begun to establish myself
as a buyer/seller of authentic Louis Vuitton
products. My interest actually began in the
late 1970's when I went on a class trip to
France and Belgium. I was given a list of Louis
Vuitton items to buy for my mother and a neighbor.
I ended up purchasing 2 items for myself as
well, and the love affair began. That was 1979,
when I was 16 years old! Believe it or not,
the 2 pieces I bought for myself are still
in excellent condition, as are the ones I bought
for my mother.
The reason I am writing is to offer your
readers and members an alert to a rather obvious
scam that is drawing in many unsuspecting buyers.
It seems that when people see an item that
comes with a box, they assume it must be the
real thing. I cannot count the number of boxes
I have seen that are misprinted!!! They are
too light in color to start with, and they
are imprinted: LOUIS VUITTON
MALLETIERA PARIS !!!
The obvious
flaw being the lack of separation between the "R" at the end of Malletier and
the "A" which is its own word. It galls me
that so many of them are running around. I
deal exclusively on eBay for now, and they
run rampant.
Thank you for allowing me to vent my feelings.
I truly appreciate Louis Vuitton products for
everything that they represent, and I thank
you for providing a forum for those of us who
care.
Sincerely
Neil |
