Does
the LVMH group make Hermes? If so, could
someone answer this question for me: in
a catalog I have, one of the Hermes Kelly
purses is $12,000.00, could someone tell
me what type of material this purse is
made out of to justify this price. I purchased
a Gucci Kelly off eBay that looks just
like the Hermes Kelly and cost me no where
near $12, 000.00 "2002-10-17 bettle"
"Hermes
anyone know??||325236"
No,
Hermes is not owned by LVMH. Hermes uses
the most exquisite leathers in the world
and they only have just a handful of craftsman
that make the bags. Also, the exclusivity
(sp.) of Hermes bags which drives the prices
up too! You just can't walk into Hermes and
say "I want a black Birkin or Kelly".
They will just laugh! :o) "2002-10-17

There's
a Hermes store near where I live. South Coast
Plaza of Orange County in Southern California.
It's not Berverly Hills of this city, so
I'm guessing that major cities would have
Hermes store. As far as the "Hermes" way
of asking for a purse... hmm, not rich enough
to even WALK into that store! haha. "2002-10-17

I grew
up in a major city in Alabama but there is
not a Hermes there. I guess I need to see
if there is one in Atlanta on my next visit.
Our most exclusive store is Saks which only
showed up a couple of years ago which is
odd considering the fact that it is the Saks

I believe
that Hermes is THE luxury brand. The Kelly
and the Birkin are the Rolls-Royces of handbags
and its worth selling all your LV's just
to have the honour of carrying one of these.
In Japan, these are highly regarded and there's
about a few year's waiting list to have one
made for you. Here in Australia its usually
an 18-month wait. Its so exclusive that if
ever there is a sample Kelly or Birkin in
an Hermes shop, its just for show, you have
to order it to be made. And only one person
completes a whole bag (The Kelly takes about
17 hours, with the handle being the most
difficult), not like a line-up assembly sort
of thing. The more outrageous the colour
of the leather like electric blue or gold
the more desirable, the more its says about
the owner - that you can afford not to stick
to safe black and have more than one. But
if you want all colours in one, check out
the new 'Vibrato' Kelly, where no two are
ever the same. There's even a Special Orders
department where you can have that hide you
shot in Africa made into the most delectable
Kelly handbag 'Mou' or 'Rigide' as a souvenir
for that trip. That how exclusive these bags
are! I find that sales assistants at Hermes
are quite friendly over here in Australia
and is more than willing to answer your questions.
I can't say if it would be the same with
those in America. (Don't you just hate snobby
sales people who give you the once-over to
see if you're even worthy to even cast a
shadow in their shop? Its as if they're fitted
head-to-toe with the goods they're selling..but
that's another issue). If you want one made,
Ostrich is the best leather to choose, because
it is very strong and very easy to use. So
there's my opinion in Hermes. Ditch the trip
to the South of France 'till next year, go
get one! "2002-10-17 uncreated"
"Hermes

Thanks
for the add'l information. I guess I'll have
to pass on having the Roll Royce of purses.
Unless that purse actually drives me to work
and does my work, it will have to stay at
the store. I have a Japanese Catalog that
lists all the swatches and Hermes bags and
assumed it was mass produced. I have to admit
and just like me the one I like costs $21,
520.00 which is OUTRAGEOUs. I can't read
the writing but it looks like Navy Blue Crocodile
and even the lock is Crocodile which is awesome.
As for snotty salespeople, it kills me too.
We have a mall in the wealthy part of town
that people kept asking me to help them find
stuff. I finally broke down and told a lady "look
everyone keeps asking me for stuff but I
am shopping just like you." She replied "oh
that happens to me all the time, I kind of
gave her a look like "yeah, right." Anyway,
that's what I get for wearing jeans and a
tee - shirt. Now the other two times I have
gone, I have been in shorts but the key was
the Charles David shoes and Gucci or LV purse.
In those instances, the salespeople drooled
so badly it was annoying beyond belief. Why
customers feel like they have to impress
sales people I'll never know. In addition,
their drooling is really annoying when you
are just looking. So annoying was a shoes
sales who told me I had to have these Issac
Mizrahi shoes because only they carried them
(Saks). Low and below, I walked down the
street and saw them at Parisian. I started
to go back and point out his salesman lie
but let it go. Anyway, salespeople need our
business, we don't need theirs. "2002-10-17

Ok,
if you're quite keen of having at least a
bag that bears the trademark of Hermes, ask
for the 'Herbag', its got similar handle
and lock system as the Kelly but the main
body of the bag is cotton canvas (uncoated)
and you get two bag sizes for the price of
one - interchangeable in either black or
natural. Quite smart and practical - can
fit heaps of stuff 8D "2002-10-18 uncreated"

That's
a fair question. I sometimes offer outstanding
sellers the option to be listed and did so
with both of these sellers. One chose not
to be listed, the other was listed for a
while, but we had differing views on key
issues required to hold this title, so, by
mutual agreement, she was removed. I still
trust both for authentic LV. The criteria

Yeah
I agree with Angie! There are many consignment
stores in HK. People buy brand new LV and
just use it for couple months and resell
them to consignment stores. It is very common
in HK. Also those bags are usually 90% new.
I'm from HK and thatz why I know. But guys

country where so many counterfeit can be

effectively; is a member of Square Trade;
her "about me" page is very organized,
informative and goes to great lengths to

I am
so grateful to have found your site. Living
in Indiana for most of my life, I was never
into "designer" brands too much.
I first noticed an LV KeepAll 50 a few years
ago sitting in the tiny St. Barts (french
island)airport. I had no idea what brand
it was, just that I really liked it. I searched
high and low for a bag like this when I got
home but no luck. I just found out from the
eluxury web site that there are no stores
in IN that carry LV(even Nordstroms). The
closest is Chicago about 3 hours away. Anyway,
I forgot about it and then last week my husband
and I were in the Barbados airport and I
spotted another KeepAll 50! I took this as
a sign from God that I have to have one of
these :) still not knowing what I was looking
for! I searched the internet until I finally
found out about LV monogrammed canvas. I
was narrowing down my choices on eBay when
I saw the ad for your book. I am so glad
I did not purchase on eBay. I'm sure I would
have bought a fake because I am a sucker
for a bargain. I will probably order from
eluxury in the near future. I will be in
Scottsdale next month so may try to find
the LV store there. Thanks again for all
your efforts. By the way could you spell
Louis Vuitton phonetically so I know how
to pronounce his name correctly. My son who

I am

of "Louis Vuitton": If you have
Real Audio, this is a great page for help
in pronunciating pouplar designer names:
http://fashion.about.com/blpronounce.htm.
If you do not, the phonetic pronunciation
for Louis Vuitton is: louie (standard pronunciation)
vee-tawn -- the "n" is silent and "tawn" is
pronounced as in "fawn." After
saying Vuitton, your lips would be in the
same position as if you had just said "wow." There
are certain phonics in French that do not
have a real equivalent in the American English
vocabulary. "2002-10-14 Poupette"

Hi all!
This is my first time here and at Angie's
request, I am submitting my story and hope
to hear back from some of you with other
ideas. On 9/11 I was the winning bidder on
a Yahoo auction for a Pegase 60. Please check
out the auction: estate_auctions #69283252
(please read her feedback). I had the pictures
checked by someone I know is experienced
and they looked very real! It took over 3
wks to receive and when I did, I was blown
away. Totally fake and a totally different
bag than what was pictured. This is my first
experience with Yahoo and thank God I used
my Visa card. I'm still in the process of
filing complaints, etc., so I still don't
know if I'm getting a refund, but people
tell me I will. Since that time, (since I
put my e-mail address in my feedback) seven
other people have contacted me who were ripped
off by this seller. Sure, I want my money
back, but that won't be enough for me. People
like this must be stopped!! This seller has
obviously done her homework: she bought a
few small Halloween items in order to get
good feedback, then she started selling all
her fake L.V.'s. I am now in the "escalated" part
of my Yahoo claim, I have filed a complaint
with the IFCC (www.ifccfbi.gov), the FTC
(https://rn.ftc.gov) and the U.S. Postal
Inspection Service Mail Fraud Division (www.usps.com).
One of the 7 people found the address for
the general counsel for L.V. and I e-mailed
them. Another person contacted the sheriff
in the seller's hometown (in Tennessee) and
we are all looking for anything else we might
do to have this lady prosecuted. She has
since removed her auctions, after she switched
for a few days to indpndntwoman36us, the
sheriff gave this guy her phone number which
has been disconnected and her e-mail addresses
no longer work. So I guess, if anything,
we may have scared her with our feedback
comments. Is there anything further I can
do? Thanks for reading this, at least it
lets me "vent. "2002-10-14 Gail"
