"LV bag not available to the public?||323207"

I just came across this auction and my florentine clutch looks nothing like that. Is she for real? Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=968701202 "2002-10-13 Calypso"

"LV bag not available to the public?||323213"

Nothing would please me more than to not have this bag available to the public. I would NOT accept it as authentic. "2002-10-13 Poupette"

"LV bag not available to the public?||323635"

That auction is disgusting! It is such ashame that there was a winning bidder! "2002-10-14 nvancamp"

"LV bag not available to the public?||323875"

Its a pity that many people don't do any research before they buy from eBay *sigh* "2002-10-15 Calypso"

"LV bag not available to the public?||324862"

I agree. I think what is sad is that it doesn't occur to them to research. "2002-10-16 Carol"

"A nice experience||325752"

Hi Angie, I received the mono clutch that I asked for your help before. It is gorgeous and exactly as described. I'm so glad that I found your web site and have so many LVL to help! "2002-10-19 Joyce"

"A nice experience||325942"

Angie is unavailable until early Monday. I know she'd be pleased with your happiness, and that you are benefitting from the web site. That's what it is all about! "2002-10-19 Carol"

"Is this Authentic? Recomend Seller?||322916"

I would stay clear of this auction. The statement that it was bought from a supplier in France is a dead give away. Louis Vuitton does NOT sell its' merchandise in this fashion. I'm a proud Canadian and Louis Vuitton lover, but my advice would be BUYER BEWARE of this Canadian auction. "2002-10-13 jimlyn"

"Beware; eBay seller; viper62382||323381"

eBay item number 969641950 & 969644736(http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=969641950). The seller's id is viper62382. Her Houston and Elipse are obviouely fake. Seller has the nerves to ask people to be careful of "beware of fake bags on eBay"... Disguisting to seller like that. She is totally immoral. "2002-10-14 maygor"

"Beware; eBay seller; viper62382||323408"

How did you know it is a fake? "2002-10-14 bettle"

"Beware; eBay seller; viper62382||323430"

One thing is the number inside the bag doesn't make sense. You can also tell by the inside of the Houston. By the way this seller doesn't even know the name of the model and calls it Thompson. "2002-10-14 maygor"

"Beware; eBay seller; viper62382||323450"

Oh, I have been protected because "if it doesn't look right" I won't buy it no matter who made it and that bag doesn't look like a $500.00 bag; the handles look funny. It amazes me how people are willing to dish out ungodly amounts for a purse without researching the matter first. Before I bought my first eBay speedy, it took months of me looking at various auctions trying to get a feel for the item. Most of the people being taken on eBay are 0 eBay buyers which stumps me eveen more. Why they would start out with major purchases makes no sense. "2002-10-14 bettle"

"Beware; eBay seller; viper62382||323637"

I would like to know what to look for in an authentic Vuitton vernis handbag myself. "2002-10-14 nvancamp"

"Beware; eBay seller; viper62382||323643"

Unfortunately, these days, it is not a cut and dried as that. Let me recommend that you first go with a trusted seller. Ask all of the standard questions of yourself and of the seller as outlined in "Poupette's guide and be sure you are making an informed decision. If you have items in mind that you would like an opinion on, we are here to help you. Best of luck to you. "2002-10-14 Poupette"

"Beware; eBay seller; viper62382||323699"

On this purse, my catalog number is M91053 in a Japanese Catalog. Do the model numbers flunctuate based upon the catalog source? Also, in the pictured bag, the handles are not perfectly centered over the star symbol like the authentic bag. Does LV make sure that the symbols are always located in the same place for each design or does symbol location flunctuate based upon who actually put the bag together? "2002-10-14 bett1e"

"Real LV?||323642

Hey all LVL, take a look at this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=967638639. I've never seen this before and the seller claims it is authentic. What do you think? "2002-10-14 Joyce"

"Real LV?||323695"

That purse looks a mess; I would really be surprised if it were authentic but I know nothing about authenticity issues but I know Vuitton bags usually don't look a mess though. "2002-10-14 bett1e"

"Real LV?||323715"

Bett1e, you make me laugh! But you are right. This bag is far from what I would consider authentic. "2002-10-14 Poupette"

"Real LV?||323724"

What a shame!!! This auction was ended with bid price of $380.5. I really want to tell all the bidders, esp the winning bidder, of this auction that they've been ripped off. Paying almost $400 for a fake LV. Oh Gosh! "2002-10-14 Joyce"

"Real LV?||323743"

There is nothing stopping you from asking the buyer if they believe they have purchased an authentic item. Depending on his/her reply, you could gently point them to this bb. "2002-10-14 Poupette"

"Real LV?||324734"

do AUTH LV bags even come with Monogram interior???? "2002-10-16 hehehahagirl"

"Real LV?||324753"

Hi, no, none of them do. "2002-10-16 Carol"

"Real LV?||325266"

I asked mrstroppo on eBay, and she told me vintage ones did, and she sent me pictures of a couple of ones with monogram lining. "2002-10-17 millie heniser . milliegary@yahoo.com"

"Real LV?||325269"

I am glad you told me for I've never seen vintage w/monogram lining. Could you send the pictures on to Angie so she could put them on the web site w/mrstroppo's permission. We could all learn from them. "2002-10-17 Carol"

"Real LV?||325747"

Hey all LVL, I just received an email from the winning bidder who told me that he has stopped the payment and the seller offered the fake bag to the 2nd high bidder. I'm so glad to hear that and I've introduced him to my"Poupette.com. "2002-10-19 Joyce"

"Real LV?||325812"

That's good news, but which auction are you discussing? "2002-10-19 Carol"

"Real LV?||325896"

Here's what the bidder wrote to me: "Hi, Thank You so much for the information about the fake LV. I EMailed her questioning the authenticity of the purse and she replied by telling me I had mental problems. She then offered the bag to second highest bidder.She never guaranteed the LV .However,Now she has sent me another e-mail congratulating me on winning it.But she has blocked me from e-mailing her. Thank You again,Cricket B W" The auction number is 967638639 "2002-10-19 Joyce"

"Real LV?||325902"

Just got into this auction. This bag attempts to be a Pochette Twin GM shown on p. 53 of most recent LV Le Catalogue. LV never made the Pochette Twin in Grafitti, only the Pochette Accessories. "2002-10-19 Carol"

"Bidder warnings||323816"

Here's a suggestion: How about sending the bidders some sort of message of caution whenever we come across an LV item being sold as "100% authentic" though there are clear signs that it is otherwise. Its sad to see people being duped. This would be a good way of minimizing such crimes. And i think this would as well educate people more about spotting real Vuitton. Im sure this suggestion could be refined or corrected. Id like to hear your opinion on this. "2002-10-15 uncreated"

"Bidder warnings||323839"

I love the idea, but it is interfering with an auction and could get you suspended. However, I don't see anything wrong with asking a potential buyer if they believe they are purchasing an authentic LV item, let them know that you care about them and let them know there are resorces to help them learn about authentic LV. Just my humble opinion, but since I don't make eBay rules, you may still be taking a risk. Believe me, want desperately to warn people all the time, but restrain myself. It breaks my heart. "2002-10-15 Poupette"

"Bidder warnings||323854"

i just would like to see this crusade become more active rather than just hear a collective sigh from everyone here after another unwary eBay buyer gets ripped-off. Mind you, i've been stung twice already and vowed NEVERMORE! Reporting counterfeit goods that are blatantly sold as "Authentic" doesn't seem to do the trick, they just keep coming back. How about just sending prospective buyers a link to your or MissTroppo's site instead? Get the word around so-to-speak. "2002-10-15 uncreated"

"Bidder warnings||323878"

No one could agree more. There is a way to get this message out without breaking rules that could get any of us suspended. eBay's User Agreement, under Listing and Selling, is this paragraph: 5.5 Manipulation. Neither you, bidders nor sellers may manipulate the price of any item nor may you interfere with other user's listings or transactions.>/b> I cannot recommend that you break another site's policy. If you buy from anyone on eBay, tell them about "Poupette's link program and ask them to help spread the word about counterfeits by linking to us. If you sell anything, LV-related or not, just add a link that says "I support" then copy "Poupette's link. The page with the link to reference is: http://www.my"Poupette.com/makelink.html. If we come together as a collective mind, we will make a difference. In fact, I know we already have! This may be a slower than desired process, but it will work and we will not have to suffer repercussions. As always, other ideas and suggestions are welcome.

"Bidder warnings||323956"

I have thought about that and decided against it. If browsing and notice a fake auction, I report it to eBay. However, the seller and buyer are entering into a contract. It is against contract law for a tthird party to attempt to interfere with that contract. Also, I have to say that people with enough income to blow it without investigating, hold some of the responsiblity. If you are interested in a purse, there is some responsiblity on your part to know what that purse looks like even if that knowledge came by a catalog. "2002-10-15 bettle"

"Bidder warnings||324724"

i've emailed bidders about obvious fakes before (i.e. Noé with the patch on the front), most bidders appreciated the gesture. however, i remember one bidder in particular... she won the auction and received the bag... she got extremely offensive when i suggested that she'd take her bag to an LV store to have it authenticated because that same seller sold me a fake LV (except with a diff eBay ID - i recognized the teddy bear and the window curtains in the background of the pictures. plus this seller was listing NEW, AUTH LV on a daily basis) she claimed she was an "LV expert" and that she was 100% certain the bag was real "because it came with a serial #"... i tried explaining to her that the presence of a date code does not guarantee authenticity of the bag... she wrote back and said i didn't know what i was talking about. geez, i was only trying to warn her... so yah, sometimes it gets a little frustrating... "2002-10-16 hehehahagirl"

"Bidder warnings||324754"

I hear you. Be aware that emailing bidders during an auction in progress is against eBay rules. "2002-10-16 Carol"

"Bidder warnings||324779"

yes, i read in this thread that it is against eBay rules. thanks for the gentle reminder, Carol :) "2002-10-16 hehehahagirl"

"Bidder warnings||325591"

I got suspended for a month from eBay last year because I warned a bidder of purchasing an obvious fake Kate Spade bag (the auction listed it as authentic). I got turned in. Just be careful. You did a really good deed! That person who got snippy with you probably turned around and sold the bag on Yahoo and listed it as 'authentic". "2002-10-18 nvancamp"

"Bidder warnings||325606"

WOW, it really puts it in perspective when you hear that it has actually happened to someone. The best thing to do is report fake items sporadically. In my opinion and some will disagree, random reports scare away people more. What happens is they get confident thinking the reports are down but are surprised when someone pops up again. I have seen the results. Try to find a fake bucket on eBay and you will see that auction gone in about 2 days. As a result, the sellers are now doing 3 day auctions on the fake bags with buy it now. I don't even feel comfortable purchasing off eBay anymore and I have gotten at least 10 good deals on NICE purses and someone else passed over because the seller didn't have 100's of feedback. "2002-10-18 bett1e"

"Bidder warnings||325753"

I too have warned buyers about obvious fakes during an auction. Though I've never been suspended, just by luck. It's a better move to report the auction to eBay. One seller was going to report me for interfering in their auction but eBay ended the auction on them. Maybe as I stated in my Urgent Help Needed message, if we reported the same fake LV auctions, each of us, one after the other maybe they'd take action quicker. Read my LET'S BOOT THESE CON ARTISTS OFF eBay message please. These guys are getting away with robbery. It is becoming harder to buy from eBay. People who are buying fakes thinking they are the real deal, are reselling them and the farce continues. "2002-10-19 lynloveslouis"

"Bidder warnings||325813"

I absolutely agree. "2002-10-19 Carol"

"Bidder warnings||325837"

It is becoming harder to buy from eBay. People who are buying fakes thinking they are the real deal, are reselling them and the farce continues ___ I think that is a whole other issue. I know I can't afford to be cheated so I totally understand why a person wants to sell the item back on eBay but eBay will not let you sell the item unless you claim it is authentic. The whole eBay process has become questionable to me.When eBay clearly knows someone is a fraud, they make them deregister but let them back on under other names. Each computer has a code that eBay could easily block I am sure but they choose not to. So you have a new set of people being scammed each week by the smae scammer with a different id. "2002-10-19 bett1e"

"Bidder warnings||325945"

I know. My husband has informed me of articles he has read regarding complaints with eBay's handling of scammers/bad auction,etc. in other areas such as sports memorabilia, computers and electronics in general. I never really think about these areas, only LV. eBay has problems. Like you, one would think they could stop bad sellers returning under a new ID by blocking the computer address. I don't know if it's a lack of caring or eBay personnel. I like to hear discussion on this. "2002-10-19 Carol"

"Check this item out!||324360"

Hi everyone! Check out this item on E-bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=969247990 Also read the feed back and see what you think. What is that GREEN THING on the zipper?!? "2002-10-15 Lily"

"Check this item out!||324397"

Green thing on zipper is there ostensibly to protect the zipper pull. I read the feedback. The (1)negative feedback on this seller would have been enough to prevent me from bidding. "2002-10-16 Carol"

Has anyone seen the new spring 2003 Louis Vuitton handbags? The colors are wild and a bit loud, but I LOVE IT! They will have the new pattern in the "speedy". "New spring 2003 Vuitton bags||324796"

Thank you for the web site. They're interesting! You can be sure that if we are aware of them, so are the counterfeitors. I am not trying to put a damper on this--just saying we'll need to be careful. I like the Speedy. "2002-10-16 Carol"

"New spring 2003 Vuitton bags||324865"

These new bags are starting to grow on me. I really like the Speedy. Anybody got any idea if they're canvas like orig. mono? "2002-10-16 Carol"

"New spring 2003 Vuitton bags||324932"

Though they are cute, its just a bit too much for me (gold studs!). They should have narrowed it down to at least 4 colours instead of a whole range (maybe these are targeted to a much younger clientele, the "Britney Set"). Maybe its just going to grow on me slowly like the Graffitti's. Certainly going to be another hit. Anyways, it seems to me that it has a similar make as that of the black and white graffitti. "2002-10-17"

"New spring 2003 Vuitton bags||324959"

[font=TahomaYes, these bags are definitely colorful and whimsical. I can see the counterfeiters getting their supplies ready, now! I know, I am being jaded and pessimistic. Sorry, it probably won't happen with these bags...] "2002-10-17 Poupette"

Just a little something I found on the internet. I believe the monogram pattern on the back of the Ellipse Backpack SHOULD BE upside down (with upside down LV's). There are few obvious fakes with right side up LV's! Correct me if I've mistaken this. "2002-10-16 "
