If it is by credit card, immediately contact your credit card company and file a "chargeback". Explain what happened and tell them you were under the impression the bag was authentic and it turned out to be a fake and that the seller refuses to contact you. IF you paid via money order, find out when the seller cashed the check and immediately file mail fraud charges with the US Postal Inspector. Go to your local post office and get the forms or go to www.usps.com and I believe you can file a complaint online (sorry...I don't know the exact link to get to the form. I was wondering if you could tell me if the price of Louis Vuitton merchandise varies by country? For example, do you think it would be less expensive to buy a LV handbag in Mexico or France than in America? Also, I don't know if you could answer this, but why will the fake LV leather never oxidize? I received the Papillon as a gift from my boyfriend's parents after a trip they took to Europe and I am not sure if the bag is real or not. I don't want to ask and am WAY too embarrassed to take into the store. The leather looks okay, but I just noticed that the design of the LV is completely different on the other side (designs are going up instead of pointing down) It almost looks as if the leather was wrapped from one side to the other. Yes, the price of LV can vary by country, but the price within each country's boutiques should be the same. I have attempted to collect prices of certain items from various countries, but that project is coming along slowly. I cannot yet tell you which country has the lowest price. Perhaps someone else can expound on that. Louis Vuitton uses a special patented treatment on their leather that allows it to gain a patina over time. Leather that does not have this treatment will not turn. (And that is assuming it is even leather.) As far as the pattern of the monogram on some bags, it is quite normal for LV to use ONE swatch of fabric to design a bag or wallet. When this is done, it will appear right-side up on one side and upside down on the other. There are some bags where the monogram is specifically cut to be right-side up on all sides. You will typically find a place where the stitching has brought those sides together. The design on the side seams should mirror each other. The interior of the bag should be lined with leather. I'm not an expert, but I was going to say that there are a couple things to consider with LV prices in other countries. One great example - in the fall of 2000, my sister and I went to Germany and she bought a Sac Plat in the LV Munich store for just over $300...it retails here for $550. At the time, the Deutschmark was 2.5 to the Dollar, and the US economy was much stronger. Of course, with the Euro in place, it basically means that 1 US dollar = 1 Euro, with slight fluctuations. You really can't get a good deal on LV in countries using the Euro anymore. It can also really depend on how a certain country's economy is doing...the one exception would be Japan, their prices are the highest. I admit that I am not sure what conclusions to draw from a seller who sells guns and purses, but judging from this seller's feedback, he has no unhappy customers. He has sold a handful of LV items with tags still on them. This would make me wonder where they came from. Although the seller says not to bother him with questions of authenticity, I would. I would want to know where the item came from, why it is being sold so cheap, where it was manufactured and the date code. I would also want a photo of the interior and bottom of the bag. I am not very familiar with the mat line, but do compare with eLUXURY's photo. I purchased a Mono Cabas Piano Bag on eBay and just received the item after 3 weeks. I brought the bag to a LV store and here's the feedback I received: 1. There is a defect(water mark) on the leather on the bottom panel. (It appears that this bag, has been used before). 2. The buckle hardware on the outside of the bag (attaching the straps)does not match with the authentic piece in the store. 3. The canvas is not the same color, texture and quality of the bag in the store. 4. The interior canvas is not of the same texture and feel of the bag in the store. 5. The felt sleeve did not match that of the bag in the store. 6. The box and ribbon appeared not to be used. After reviewing the bag by several sales people, the feeling was that this bag is an incredible knock off and looks great, but to their eyes it appears that there some question on the authenticity. There is an option of Louis Vuitton sending this bag to California to the authentication department, but there is a shipping fee associated with that, and the process takes about 2-3 weeks. I bought Cabas Piano directly from eBay seller, not thru auction. I received the bag and took it to the LV shop near me. Sales people took a look at it and I was told that it was authentic. But they did not examine the bag as closely as I would've liked them to. From visiting your web site I know there are super super fakes out there, I don't know if I should honor their opinion 100% or to seek other form of authentication. How did you pay? If you paid with a credit card, I have been told the credit card company will refund your money if you tell them the item is not authentic, as represented. If you paid with a money order or check, you should contact eBay and report the incident as a seller violation. I would recommend that you enter feedback immediately because this will alert future purchasers that they should be cautious. The eBay process will take a while and eBay doesn't particularly care if the matter is resolved or not. Also, you can file mail fraud charges, an online white crime investigation report, and file a police report with your local police. Once you file the online white crime report, your state's attorney's general office will contact you (at least mine did). If all else fails, you will have to file a small claims action. I would advise you to file it in your city and leave it up to the seller to contest the action on jurisdictional grounds. Hi! I can only address this issue in regards to monogram. Zipper pulls have LV only on them. Speedy zippers have leather pull-tab attached by brass brad with Louis Vuitton on it in very small letters. Most of the brads on my bags are like that except the D-ring brad inside Montsouris backpack, which has LV only on it. Hello and good day from Australia! I've recently caught the "LV bug" and would really like to have a few pieces for personal use. I do believe that investing in such high quality standard and the "exclusivity" it carries is worthwhile. And buying vintage/discounted online is the most practical for my present means. Being male and not too keen on brown and busy prints, I'm more interested in the Taiga (Ardoise) and black Epi lines or even the Mono Mat collection of Louis Vuitton. It seems that most collectors only specialize in the monogram canvas, would you or someone you know, know more about the Taiga line? I would just like to know the basics in spotting an authentic piece from a fake. Being a rather plain collection, the differences are quite subtle.
