Angie, I was looking at the "real LV" photos on your site and for the Musette it said that it has alcantra suede. I remember when I was at the LV store last week I examined a Musette (the large one like the photo) and I remember the inside of the bag being a dark brown color. Can alcantra suede come in different colors? I also examined the medium looping bag and the sales person told me that it had suede lining. I'm just wondering if LV actually changed the lining in the musette? Maybe it will clear it up if you could just tell me what alcantra suede is. Let me say briefly that Alcantra suede is not really suede. It is a washable, a manmade material. It does come in different shades. The color of the Musette differs from the Musette Salsa. It also differs in many other models. As far as whether it is now a dark brown, I don't have an answer for you. I was recently in LV, but did not check the Musettes. Reply from an inexperienced LV shopper: I personally had no idea how much LV's cost. When the Saks told me the Monceau was $1,000.00, I nearly fainted. So I can totally understand people not knowing. I brought this issue up at one of my social message boards when I saw people paying $300.00 for a used beat up speedy when they could have gotten one for $385.00 (new) at that time. The reply was that Speedy was out of stock everywhere. I told the person that eluxury and all the stores had speedies. She said I was right and that she never checked. The same goes true for the buckets that are being purchased for $400.00. Pay the other $100-175 and buy the thing new - this makes no sense. The monceau I bought off eBay cost me $350 when new it is $1000.00. The one I got looks brand new so essentially I saved 65% which in my mind makes total sense, but buying a USED purse and saving 10 - 20% doesn't make all that much sense to me especially when you are gambling with how the purse will actually look when you receive it."2002-10-10 bettle"

I have another question. On eBay I have been seeing bags that claim to be authentic, some of which are obvious fakes, but others that to me seem more possible, however some of them have this "wrapping" around the handles or the hardware of the bag, you know that plastic you see around the handles...well, I'm just wondering if LV really does do this, because when I went to the LV store neither the large or small bucket bags had wrapped handles, nor did the alma. So, when you buy a bag at an LV boutique that is brand new,with tags, dustbag, etc. and it doesn't have "wrapping" on the handles, etc. should these bags WITH the wrapping as seen on eBay be disregarded as counterfeit?  "2002-10-07 Claudia"

Plastic wrapping around handles shouldn't be an indicator of counterfeits.....my friend got a Looping ( model #51145 ) from LV boutique with clear plastic wrapped around the leather handle. Cleaning the brass hardware can be a tricky project, as you do not want to get the cleaner on other parts of the bag. A standard brass cleaner will work, but you must be careful. My recommendation is that if you are close to an LV shop, take it to their experts for cleaning. The cost should be relatively low...perhaps $20. The key to leather protectant is the type of dispenser. I bought a $25.00 bottle that had too much alcohol and is too liquidity and did seem to make the leather darker and gave it streaks. The key is to get a spray protectant. I am not sure of Wilson's name brand but it is kept at the counter. Shoe stores also have leather protector. The only requirement is that it be in an aerosol can and it have a low alcohol content."2002-10-11 bett1e"
